Why the Brownsville climate matters for ductless units
Mini-split indoor heads often run continuously at low speed, which can be efficient but keeps the coil wet in a humid environment. Without periodic deep cleaning, the blower wheel and coil can accumulate biological growth that causes odor, reduces airflow and eventually blocks the drain pan. Salt-laden air can also affect outdoor unit coils and exposed line-set connections on units mounted on the seaward side of a home.
Because the condensate from a wall-mounted head usually drains by gravity through a small line, any sag, blockage or insect nest in that line can show up quickly as water running down a wall.
